By Intrepid (Texas, USA)
Do not purchase from this "storefront" (sedative3145), the seller untruthfully claims to have this item (Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx Waterproof Handheld GPS Unit (GPSUnit w/Topo US 2008)) in stock. I received no communication at all from sedative3145, Amazon had to cancel my order. In order to get the equipment in time, I had to reorder it thru Amazon, costing me an additional $47.

"Protector Doesn't Last Over Time" 2009-04-10
By Barry P. Jefferson (Chelmsford, MA USA)
I seldom write reviews, but I really wanted to share my experience with the ClearTouch protector on my Garmin 60CSx. The protector fits well and protects well when first applied, but mine began lifting at the corners and then pealing off after about two months. I couldn't resolve the problem by reconditioning (washing in warm water). This happened to me twice. Considering the $12 price of a single protector, this makes no economic sense. I've had a different brand protector on my PDA for years and never seen anything like this.

 "not worth the money" 2008-02-21
By Eddie S. Black (Portland, Oregon)
I ordered this to prevent further scratching of my pricey GPS unit. When it got in I applied it and was quite disappointed in how dark it makes the screen. I use screen protectors on my iPod, my phone, and other devices and this one is the worst. It might protect the screen, but so does a piece of cardboard, and both offer the same amount of transparency. I ended up buying another product called Ivisishiel that works like a champ and doesn't cut down the brightness.

 "GPS Screen Protector 60csx" 2007-03-12
By Hunt AK (Anchorage, AK USA)
Fair product, only one protector in the package...seems pricey to me. Better to buy a pack from Office Depot or Office Max with 9 more sheets and trim to fit the screen for just a few dollars more...

the product is very nice and helpful. I purchased it for my husband and he is extremely happy dwith it

 "Don't waste your money!!!" 2007-02-07
By Mountain Man (Frederick, Colorado USA)
Garmin apparently does not understand the concept of Plug and Play. I bought a GPSMAP 60CSX over two months ago and have NEVER been able to connect to my either of my PCs. The maps that come with this device are useless, and if you want good maps, you'll need to spend about $100. I bought the maps, but can't connect the GPS to the PC!!

Garmin's technical support folks have only wasted my time. For the last month they have not even responded to my e-mails.

What a waste of my time and money!!

I recently had my Vista HCx stolen and needed a replacement. The 60 CSx seems to be the same, although I did notice that the new unit roamed while standing still, while the Vista didn't seem to do that. Maybe it's because i can see the screen that I'm noticing it now. Anyway, the screen is much easier to see but it doesn't get a bright as the Vista. It's like it has the same amount of available light on both units only the light is spread over a larger distance therefore not as bright on the 60C......

OK, Lets see where do I start, as for the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSX, Its an amazing specialized tool that can surely not only save the day, but get you out of so many burdens, as well by having it all inside of it simply by having added a North America NT navigator not only will it additionally act as an amazing map and relocator in finding back your tracks, but additionally will navigate you through either highways, city streets and back roads for getting anywhere in any manner you may like.
It ......

I've had my 60CSX for over a year and it has worked well for driving directions (detailed US Maps extra) and for geocaching. However, the 60CSX seems out of date, in terms of GeoCaching. Only the Cache Number & 44 characters of Cache Description are stored on theunit.

If I could go back, I would have gotten a Delorme PN-20 or PN-40 just because these units include detailed maps and provide geocache details on the unit at a very good price for a durable looking GPS unit.
......

Great transaction and product delivered on time or beforehand and excellent condition, well wrapped.
......

The GPS 60CSx is a great choice for a handheld unit. Pretty decent battery life, screen is bright even in sun, and has enough customizable features and settings to work for just about anyone. I will definitely tell my friends to get this one if they are looking for a GPS.
