 "training dvd" 2007-12-02

more than useless. I didn't learn anything I was interested in: use from a Mac platform, how to feed the device

with infos, what they are and where to find...etc...etc... zero!

 "Don't waste your money" 2007-05-23
By Don Christensen (USA)
Garmin really missed a great opportunity with this product. If you are a really new beginner or need a refresher then this DVD might be for you. However, an instructional DVD should provide more. Downloading optional MapSource chart detail is mentioned briefly but no instruction. Instead you are referred to the user manual or the Garmin website. As I said before this was a great waste of money.

 "Blurs the Screen" 2007-03-02
By Yo' Vinny (Houston, TX USA)
Initial thoughts for this were it fit my 60 Csx well - almost too well as the opposing sides are exactly the same size as the screen which makes it go over the edge a bit if alignment is the least bit off. It also seems to offer very significant protection. I really do feel that this is going to take quite a scratch before the scratch works its way down to the screen 'glass'. It does however create a certain 'sparkly fuzziness'. I think that this is due to the distance from the LCD element itself - perhaps about 1/16 of an inch? If it were closer to the pixels then the fuzziness would probably not be there.

In the end I am rating it a 3 stars as even with the fuzziness it really does feel like quite adequate protection instead of a full case.

 "garmin 60cs" 2008-10-07
By T. Stroup
This item is great very accurate after buying city navigator which was needed for detailed info. I love the bread crumb feature to enable backtrack and the electronic compass.

"Nice case, bad plastic cover" 2008-04-14
By work sucks
I was more than a little disappointed with this product. The case fit nicely over my GPS60CSx, but the plastic had a lot of glare to it, which made the LCD even harder to see in low light. The plastic also had some imperfections, which made it even harder to see. The neoprene case and carabener (sp?) were nice, but the plastic just ruined the usefulness.

I just ordered the Invisable Shield for the 60CSx, and will probably cut the plastic out the case, and use the Invisible Shield protective cover. It's not worth the hassle to return. Almost a good product, but it's no good if you can't see the display!

"Best case I could find" 2007-01-15
By geckl69 (Chicago, IL USA)
This case is awesome! The screen is easily visible through the protector, even with the backlight off. The unit slides in and out easily, and the removable carabiner makes this great for hiking with our without a backpack.

 "60CS Neoprene GPS Case" 2007-01-03
By R. Good (Georgia, USA)
A perfect fit, but, a waste of money for me. Can't access connectors without removing GPS from case. The clear plastic sticks to the GPS screen and makes it hard to remove the GPS from the case. I do not use this case at all.

 "suffice " 2005-09-29
By Tech Resq (Boston, MA USA)
It is suffice for carrying around. It has a clip and a difficult belt clip that is a strap velcroed back onto itself. Would do better with a committed belt loop.

"Great Product Almost Bomb Proof! (literally)" 2008-10-04
By J.R. Salzman
I upgraded to the 60CS after my M4 cracked the screen on my Etrex while out marking UXO (unexploded ordnance). This is a great little GPS that is easy to use and highly accurate. A few of us had and used them all over Iraq while escorting convoys and running patrols. Choose your own icons to mark checkpoints, the latest IEDs you encounter, small arms fire, etc. Then when you get back to base, share your points with your buddies by just uploading them onto your computer. It is much easier to use than the crap the Army gives you. Its nice to have something that works when your life depends on it.

One down side is that you cannot get a signal through the ballistic glass on a Humvee. You have to buy the external antenna. If you're out on a foot patrol it works just fine though. (I know, not an issue for 99.9% of people).

If you use it all the time at night like we did either carry a lot of batteries or use a flashlight to look at the screen. I couldn't get through one convoy without changing batteries. I finally wired in cigarette plug in my humvee and bought the car adapter for my Garmin. Problem solved!

More storage space would be nice for tracking routes. You can only store a few routes before its full and you need to delete something. Granted, we were using it on convoy runs over 100 miles long. If you just use it for hunting, hiking, or fishing, you're going to be just fine.

This thing is very durable. Wile escorting a convoy through Baghdad my humvee was hit by an IED that blew everything inside to bits. Every piece of electronics (radios, Army GPS, etc) was blown up and quit working. Everything except my Garmin that is. Other than a small nick in the screen from a piece of shrapnel, it works just fine. Even the external antenna survived, and that was outside the humvee. I am definitely sold on Garmin, and this GPS.

"Does what it should do!" 2007-05-09
By Bruce Alexander (Tucson, AZ USA)
Good product. Updates now available for Mac users also online. I like this one, better battery life than some of the newer ones. No SD card slot.

 "The Best GPS Unit" 2007-04-17
By Thomas A. Valverde (Ladera Ranch, CA USA)
This GPS is great. A color screen is a must and we have need no problems viewing the screening in direct sunlight. This unit is very durable too with a sporty look. The best part you can take it everywhere (hiking, biking, walking, running, even on trips). Money Well Spent!!!

 "Great for Geo Cashing" 2007-02-16
By Bob Lampert
A very accurate GPS and works everywhere, also a great tool for Geo Cashing

"Just don't trust it on the road" 2006-11-12
By William B. Clark (Lompoc, CA. USA)
Nice enough for the trail when you're on foot and not depending on it to tell you how to get somewhere. But it has turned me the wrong way on the road more times than not, one time it told me to turn left when the route it was displaying turned right.

Also its plug locations are just plain stupid. You may want to pop for a bracket if you do use it in the car--but then if you want a road worthy navigtor, look elsewhere.

Otherwise the software is quirky and the maps quite expensive.
